Today, April 26, 2009, I walked for the NCVRW, National Crime Victim's Rights Week. I walked 1o laps for the case of child and teen victimization. It was a beautiful day, so it made it much more than just walking it was about helping.

- I am Crystal Lauren Perkins, 23 years old, married to Samuel Perkins, the mother of three-year-old Tobias Gage, two-year-old Quentin Dane, and the reigning Mrs. Southwestern Virginia United States 2009. My husband and I own a small business corporation which has been in the family for 23 years. In addition, I also work at home taking care of children.
My platform for the upcoming Mrs. Virginia United States Pageant is "Blood Donor Awareness." My focus on this platform stems from the fact that my particular county has great potential for blood donations, but due to the lack of citizen awareness our Red Cross chapter has great difficulty meeting its quotas. Until I was recently diagnosed with anemia, I was a frequent blood donor. My frustration at being personally unable to donate at this time has strengthened my resolve to focus public attention on this very basic human need.
